Wow, finally a good thriller movie after a long time. Drishyam is a remake of the Malayalam movie by the same title. The movie is nestled in a Goan village, the kind where everyone knows one- another. The protagonist is a middle-class Goan Vijay Salgaonkar( Ajay Devgn) for whom his family's well being is paramount.
Ajay plays the role of a 5th class school-dropout who runs a local cable-service provider shop. He is a big movie-buff and spends most of his time at work looking at the motion pictures.
Vijay has a cozy life with his wife Nandini(Shriya Saran) , elder daughter( Ishita Dutta, 'Poonam from Ek Ghar Banaunga' & Tanushree Dutta's sister) and younger daughter(Mrinal Jadhav). The coziness of his family is shattered one night following an offhand chain of events.
Vijay's character development is myriad throughout the film and it compels you to think away from the extreme principles of black vs white, right vs wrong, yin vs yang. His strong will and steadfastness to protect his family at all costs forms the backbone of the story.
The unfateful night's chain of events leads to a massive police search headed by the stern and steely IPS Meera Deshmukh (Tabu).
Tabu's acting is top-notch in multiple interrogation scenes throughout the movie with a distinct no-nonsense persona on display at all times.
Ishita Dutta is remarkable in her Bollywood debut with a wide palette of emotions. Mrinal Jadhav plays the role of the innocent and adorable younger daughter splendidly, generating a few interspersed audience laughs.
Rajat Kapoor has a knack for playing the upper-class, businessmen –roles and is casted perfectly as Tabu's husband. However his character is a bit monochromatic, probably due to the script.
The movie has multiple twists arousing the curiosity of the audience culminating into a superb climax.
Even though the film is 2 hours and 43 minutes long, it binds the audience to their seats till the very last scene.
I strongly recommend this film, especially to the thriller genre lovers.
P.S. The film also teaches you why watching movies can impart you with paramount life-skills. So, definitely a connect with the movie buffs :)

I saw the finished movie at the screening before the wrap party. The movie works on every level. The Characters, the animation, the story, the score, the romance, and it's all very cute as well (in a way Disney can apparently still pull off).The one thing that I didn't get into was the songs (Except maybe the "Mother Knows Best" reprise). They were a little weak melodically and you won't be singing them for weeks like I do "Part of Your World" every time I watch the "Little Mermaid." However, the songs are good enough not to bring the movie down. There are so many touching scenes in this movie and you will love all of the characters by the end and have an amazing time in the process.
It is definitely worth seeing in the theater, as this is probably the prettiest computer animated movie I've seen. I just can't wait to see it in stereo!
(BTW, I'm a 30 year old male who grew up with Disney. And I feel like I'm being objective when I say this movie works as a movie and not as a movie exclusively for 10 year old girls.)

Period pieces don't often serve as the backdrops for horror, which is actually a real shame. Consider The Witch, a story about a banished Puritan family trying to sustain itself on the edge of an ominous forest inhabited by a gruesome witch. The faithful representation of one of the most creepy time periods in American history makes all the difference here. The family's dealings with the supernatural terror in the woods push their spiritual and physical endurance to the breaking point. Robert Eggers pulls no punches and makes no apologies in this film. The Witch's scenes are steeped in primal dread, and each actor makes the audience feel the seams come apart as paranoia and mistrust begin to take their toll. While Game of Thrones alumni Ralph Ineson and Kate Dickie offer brilliantly raw performances as the family's mother and father, it's the film's younger actors—Harvey Scrimshaw and Anya Taylor-Joy—who really shine. Scrimshaw captures the nuanced turmoil of being an adolescent male in a strictly religious family. As the oldest daughter who is blamed for the witch's malevolent deeds against the family, Anya Taylor-Joy shows a surprising amount of risk and range in her performance. The film swings for the fences on all fronts. The performances are explosive, the tension is gut-wrenching, and the settings are nightmarish. fell in love with this movie and i cant wait to see it again. If you
are into animation definitely give this a try, it has plenty of adult
humor and kids will find the animated characters just riveting. To name
some possible flaws the movie might fall into some clichés throughout
and is predictable, but the writing, characters and animation is so good
i don't think it matters that much. Also the 3d is fine but not really
necessary.

Fitoor, based on the
popular Charles Dicken's novel "The Great Expectation" , was an
emotional love story that could have been crafted better but
unfortunately was mowed down by weak direction and poor script. What
could have profound impact but turned to be a big boring flick.
Fitoor tells the story of of 3 people – Noor (played by Aditya Roy Kapoor) who falls in love with his muse (played by Tabu)'s daughter Firdaus (played by Katrina Kaif) in his childhood. As they grow up, Noor becomes more obsessed with Firdaus and is willing to do anything to get her. However, Begum, who is broken-hearted from a failed marriage, plots a retribution on their love story.
Now , I have been a big fan of "The Great Expectations" and adore the characters of Pip and Estella ( respectively played by Aditya Roy Kapoor and Katrina Kaif) and was expecting the same heart- warming, emotional touching love story this time. To my surprise, I was disappointed with this film. The third attempt by Abhishek Kapoor after Rock On and Kai Po Che, Fitoor could have made you laugh, cry, thrilled, excited and inspired but is welcomed by a saddened script. Even though Abhishek Kapoor had wonderful story to tell, but the lethargic pace and superficial drama could not salvage the film from falling into the pit. There is no chemistry between Aditya Roy Kapoor and Katrina Kaif except for their lip-lock. Whenever they meet, it always seems so over the top. I like the enigmatic cinematography(Anay Goswamy) capturing the essence of Kashmir embedded with fantastic art direction (Mayur Sharma).
Never the less , the film is full of loopholes and boring drama which sometimes makes you scratch your hair. Background score and editing is decent. Both Aditya Roy Kapoor and Katrina Kaif are hopeless. I wish, casting some strong performers would have made the film watchable. The only silver lining in this dull film is superb acting by Tabu. She gets into the character of depressed and disturbed old lady. Watch for her where she ask her daughter if she wants to be like her mother marrying a person beneath her status. Another highlight of the film is the soulful music by Amit Trivedi.
So , overall , a golden opportunity gone wasted . Rather than concentrating on making the film look good, Abhishek Kapoor could have made sincere efforts in the direction and screenplay area.

This movie surprised
me. I walked into this movie hoping for it to be good; and man am I glad
to have gone. This movie was brutal, crude, indecent, and a hell of a
good time. The casting for this movie was nothing less than absolute
perfection, Ryan Reynolds shines with his secondary characters T.J.
Miller (Weasel), Brianne Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), and
Stefan Kapicic (Colossus) providing great performances that really
worked with Deadpool's character. I was taken aback, I knew I would
laugh at some jokes, but not THAT many jokes. This movie, although
following a by-the-book plot line, covered up the story with it's action
and comedy and made it feel brand new. This movie may not have
reinvented the superhero genre, but it surely provides a fun and
refreshing good time while it lasts.

I usually don't watch
Indian movies but my mom was very persistent. It was probably the best
thing I got dragged into watching. The movie overall was phenomenal. I
absolutely loved it and would recommend everyone to go watch it. It will
have you crying for days. The songs on the movie are very good as well.
Its super adorable and dorky and I might take my boyfriend to watch it
again. The actors played there roles really well and the dude was
smoking hot, his body it to die for. It does have subtitles cause I
don't understand Hindi that well so that was a big help. Recently all
the Indian movies that have been released weren't that good in plot they
all got very repetitive. It's good to see something a bit different in
Sanam Teri Kasam. GO WATCH IT SO WORTH THE TIME AND MONEY!

There's
some good news about Kung Fu Panda 3, and there's some bad news. The
good news is that it's genuinely funny at times and the animation is
stunning(perhaps as good as we've seen from Dreamworks) and the movie
works well enough to be enjoyable. The bad news is, it could have been
much more. When Po meets his biological dad for the first time, it
should have been an emotional, touching moment; instead it was played
for laughs. And instead of making the villain Kai a threat to respect,
they just made him goofy. Plus, the "Furious Five" get barely any screen
time and the new characters are hardly worth mentioning. Also, the main
idea of this movie being about "who am I", is practically a rehash of
the first two movies. Yet with all its faults, the movie is still
enjoyable if you take it for what it is, a funny, but cheesy third movie
in the Kung Fu Panda trilogy.

This movie is as smart as a anthropomorphic animal film can be taking advantage of every quality of the animal kingdom (for example the districts of the city Zootopia are ecosystems) while also making some references to pop culture and clever writing. The voice acting is top notch and the animation is by far one of the best out there, with impressive lighting effects and character facial expressions. But the best element of this film is its two main characters and the chemistry between them...yes there is just as much chemistry between Juddy and Nick as there is between Danny Golver and Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon.
